ABD acquires global rights to Mansion House, Savoy
ABD secured “worldwide rights, title and interest” in both brands, but its ownership does not extend to several Southeast Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia
Indian spirits giant Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD) has acquired global rights to renowned liquor brands Mansion House and Savoy Club in a strategic move to grow its global footprint.
The deal involved a 100% equity acquisition of Singapore‑based UTO Asia Pte Ltd for €1.225 million (about $1.2 million), solidifying ABD’s control over the brands through a newly established wholly owned subsidiary, the company said.
The acquisition secured “worldwide rights, title and interest” in both brands. However, ABD’s ownership does not extend to several Southeast Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, China and Myanmar.
With UTO Asia now under its umbrella, ABD gains full brand ownership outside the specified exempted territories.
ABD’s management called the move a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy, reinforcing the firm’s brand positioning and boosting visibility in export markets.
In a statement, the company said the acquisition supports its international ambitions by unifying brand control while respecting regional interests in key Asian markets
According to a filing, the deal was finalized shortly after board approval on 10 June. Execution was completed swiftly via binding legal agreements
Mansion House brandy and Savoy Club whisky have been part of ABD’s brand suite since 2014 when the company acquired a 50% ownership stake from Dutch liquor firm Herman Jansen.
The newly completed deal now consolidates full global ownership (outside certain markets) under ABD’s control
With this acquisition, ABD augments its diverse portfolio, which already includes top Indian brands such as Officer’s Choice Whisky, Officer’s Choice Blue, Sterling Reserve and ICONiQ White.
The company, headquartered in Mumbai and founded in 1988, operates 36 manufacturing units across India, including nine bottling plants and two distilleries, with a presence spanning 22 countries worldwide
Earlier disputes over the Mansion House brand in India—particularly involving Tilaknagar Industries—were resolved in February, when the Bombay high court allowed ABD to use the Mansion House name in West Bengal, effectively removing a major legal hurdle.
