Karnataka sets $20 billion quantum goal for 2035
At India’s first global quantum summit, the state unveils a sweeping roadmap backed by infrastructure, incentives, and institutional muscle
Karnataka on Thursday unveiled its ambition to build a $20 billion quantum economy by 2035 with real-world applications in defense, healthcare, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
State chief minister Siddaramaiah launched the state’s strategic roadmap at the opening of Quantum India Bengaluru 2025, India’s first global summit dedicated to quantum science and technology.
The two-day event, organized by the Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society and IISc’s Quantum Technology Initiative, brought together Nobel laureates, global researchers, startups, and industry leaders.
Among the key announcements were plans for a Quantum City near Bengaluru, a dedicated manufacturing zone for quantum hardware, and a new Pancharatnam Prize for excellence in quantum breakthroughs.
The state also launched a high-level Quantum Technology Task Force and a State Quantum Mission to steer sectoral development.
