Nestlé nominates Amazon’s Tiwary to lead India operations

Swiss food and beverage firm Nestlé SA has nominated Amazon India’s country manager, Manish Tiwary, as managing director at its India unit, Nestlé India Ltd.

Tiwary will take over from current chairman and managing director Suresh Narayanan, who will retire after a 26-year long career with the Nestle group on 31 July 2025.

Tiwary, currently a director at Amazon Digital Services and More Consumer Brands Pvt. Ltd, announced his exit in August and will remain with the firm until the end of this month.

He had joined Amazon India in 2016 and had spent four years as vice-president before being elevated to country manager in 2022.

The maker of Maggi, KitKat, Milkmaid, and Nescafe said in a regulatory filing on Monday that its Swiss parent recommended Tiwary’s appointment.

Tiwary brings three decades of experience in leading large-scale operations and strategic initiatives in e-commerce and consumer goods sectors.

He headed Amazon’s consumer and seller services for four years and previously served as managing director at Unilever Gulf.

An IIM Bangalore alum, he holds a B. Tech in Computer Science.

Nestle India reported a Q1 2024 net profit of ₹746.6 crore, up 6.9% from ₹698.3 crore a year ago, with revenue at ₹4,813.95 crore, a 3.33% rise. Before the results, shareholders voted to maintain the royalty fee to the Swiss parent at 4.5% of turnover.
