Shailesh Jejurikar to succeed Jon Moeller as Procter & Gamble CEO

India-born executive Shailesh Jejurikar will become the next chief executive officer (CEO) of American consumer goods firm Procter & Gamble (P&G), effective 1 January.

Jejurikar will succeed current president and CEO Jon Moeller.

The company announced the leadership change in a statement, confirming that Jejurikar has also been nominated to stand for election as a director at the annual shareholder meeting this October.

Jejurikar, 58, is currently the chief operating officer and has been with P&G for over three decades.

He joined the company in 1989 as an assistant brand manager in India and has since held various roles across Asia, Africa, and North America.

In 2005, he became general manager, and was promoted to Vice-President in 2008.

By 2010, he was leading Home Care in North America. He went on to become President of Fabric Care in 2014 and later assumed global responsibilities.

In 2019, he was named CEO of the company’s Global Fabric and Home Care unit. He has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2021.

During his tenure, Jejurikar contributed to building several core businesses, including Fabric Care and Home Care, and played a role in developing strategies across the Supply Chain, Information Technology, and Global Business Services.

P&G’s portfolio includes brands such as Ariel, Tide, Whisper, Gillette, Pampers, Olay, Pantene, and Vicks.

“Shailesh Jejurikar…will succeed Jon Moeller as Procter & Gamble’s President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2026. The Board has also nominated Jejurikar to stand for election as a Director at the annual shareholder meeting in October 2025,” the company said.

Jejurikar was born and raised in a rural area near Mumbai.

He studied in Bombay before completing his MBA at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.

Jejurikar will be only the second non-US-born CEO in P&G’s history. The first was Durk Jager, of Dutch origin, appointed in 1998.

Outside P&G, Jejurikar serves as chairman of the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. and is a board member at Otis Elevator Co, where he chairs the Compensation Committee.

He also serves on the Board of The Christ Hospital. He was previously Vice Chairman of the American Cleaning Institute and a Trustee at Cincinnati Country Day School.
