Singapore’s Temasek to deepen India bets
The fund is targeting family-owned businesses and the fast-growing healthcare sector, buoyed by strong economic growth and a robust IPO market
Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek is sharpening its focus on India, with plans to invest up to $10 billion over three years, The Economic Times reported, citing Vishesh Shrivastav, Temasek’s India managing director.
Temasek, which holds a $50 billion Indian portfolio and has deployed over $3 billion in the past year alone, sees India as a cornerstone of its global strategy, the report said.
The fund is particularly targeting family-owned businesses and the fast-growing healthcare sector, buoyed by strong economic growth and a robust IPO market.
India remains the world’s second-largest IPO market in 2025, bolstering global investor confidence, the report said.
Last week, Temasek-backed Manipal Hospitals outbid rivals including other hospital chains and private equity firms to acquire Sahyadri Group, underlining its growing bets on Indian healthcare.
Temasek’s India portfolio surged 35% in value over the past year, aided by the country’s resilient macroeconomic fundamentals and equity market gains, the ET report said.
Shrivastav said Temasek remains “committed to India” and plans to steadily deploy more capital here in the coming years.
The fund is also concentrating on larger, strategic stakes, such as its recent investment in Haldiram’s, while continuing to build platforms in key domestic sectors, the report added.
