Skoda India adds Bentley to local portfolio
Bentley’s India operations will be directly under SAVWIPL’s oversight after more than two decades of the brand’s presence in the Indian market
Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has announced that it has started managing the import, distribution, and servicing of Bentley vehicles across India, starting 1 July.
The British luxury carmaker becomes the sixth brand under SAVWIPL, which already oversees Škoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini in the country.
With this, Bentley’s India operations will be directly under SAVWIPL’s oversight after more than two decades of the brand’s presence in the Indian market.
A new entity, Bentley India, has been set up to handle the brand’s marketing, sales, and after-sales functions. Abbey Thomas has been appointed as brand director and will lead Bentley’s strategy and operations in India.
The company also confirmed initial dealerships in Bengaluru and Mumbai, while another is expected in New Delhi. These outlets will serve India’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs), a segment the group sees as a key customer base for Bentley.
“Welcoming Bentley into the SAVWIPL family is a proud milestone that completes our portfolio — from the precision of German engineering to the timeless elegance and unmatched performance of British craftsmanship,” said Piyush Arora, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of SAVWIPL.
Meanwhile, Jan Bures, executive director – sales, marketing and digital, stated, “It’s a proud moment for us in India to welcome Bentley into the SAVWIPL family. The ever-growing UHNI segment in India will benefit from this new association, and we, along with our new dealer partners, will ensure the best of luxury and performance for our customers.”
SAVWIPL, headquartered in Pune, operates two manufacturing facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and offers a range of electric and internal combustion engine vehicles in India.
