Uber-luxury brands look to make inroads into India
Italian luxury labels such as Prada, Miu Miu, Pal Zileri, and Kiton, along with French names Casablanca and Marini Clothing are planning to enter or expand in India
Global luxury brands are becoming increasingly interested in the Indian market, with several companies preparing to launch stores or form partnerships in the country, Mint reported, citing multiple industry executives.
The trend reflects a shift in strategy as luxury brands look for new consumer markets outside their traditional bases in Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
Italian luxury fashion labels such as Prada, Miu Miu, Pal Zileri, and Kiton, along with French names Casablanca and Marini Clothing, are planning to enter or expand in India, the report said.
Brands specializing in fragrances and design, such as Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Daum, and Lalique, are also preparing for launch. Danish audio firm Bang & Olufsen is planning a return to the Indian market after its departure in 2022, the report added.
Luxury group Chanel has confirmed plans to open a ready-to-wear salon at The Chanakya mall in New Delhi, according to Mint.
Brands that have recently entered into the Indian market include Aquazzura, Diptyque, Baccarat, Golden Goose, and Amiri. Most of these labels timed their openings around the festive season last year.
Retail infrastructure in key cities is evolving along with the growing interest from luxury brands.
While most of the current activity is centered in metropolitan areas, the broader trend shows a growing appetite for luxury experiences across the country.
