Vir Das to host International Emmy Awards
The stand-up comedian and actor will become the first Indian to host the International Emmys

Das, who in 2021 was nominated for an International Emmy for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India in the Comedy category and then won in 2023 for his comedy special Landing, expressed his excitement about hosting the event.
“I am so happy to be hosting the International Emmys. It’s a massive prestigious night to uphold makers from across a world that I believe, is making its best content.” said Das.
“I know first-hand how it can be life changing.”
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ president and chief executive, Bruce L Paisner, praised Das’s sense of humor while sharing the news.
“With his unique humor and perspective on the world, he now joins a distinguished group of Gala hosts over the years who fit in perfectly with our global audience,” he said.
Das has made a significant impact in the television industry in both Hollywood and back home, creating, producing, and starring in numerous series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the critically acclaimed Netflix thriller Hasmukh, and the Amazon travel show Jestination Unknown.
He has also appeared in notable films like Judd Apatow’s Netflix feature The Bubble and is currently developing his own single-camera comedy with CBS Studio’s and Brooklyn 99 actor Andy Samberg.
Currently, Vir Das can be seen in the Amazon Prime show Call Me Bae, starring Ananya Pandey.
