InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, the company that operates the IndiGo airline, has named Isidro Porqueras as chief operating officer (COO), effective 1 November, replacing Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, who is retiring later this year.

Isidro joined IndiGo in April as chief of transformation from European airline Volotea, where he was COO.

Outgoing COO Prock-Schauer has been leading operations at IndiGo for the past seven years, beginning 2018.

Pieter Elbers, chief executive officer, IndiGo said, “As we move towards the next phase of our ambitious growth plans, Isidro will work closely with the leadership team, to build and prioritize our focus areas. His deep expertise in operations and demonstrated success in previous organizations will be instrumental as we continue to execute our strategic vision and expand business in international markets.”

Porqueras has led teams in operations, commercial, strategy and finance for 25 years, and as chief of transformation at IndiGo, he was engaged in several operations related projects over these past months, the company said.

“I am very excited and humbled to be a part of IndiGo and to take on this role at such a pivotal moment in its growth journey. I look forward to working with the exceptional team here, to build on the strong foundation laid by Prock-Schauer and to drive innovation and operational success,” Porqueras said.

IndiGo is among the fastest growing low-cost carriers with a fleet of about 370 aircraft. The airline operates about 2,100 flights daily that connect more than 85 domestic destinations and 30 international destinations.
