Take a step back and explore the colorful Kyoto with a domestic robot with Sunny, follow middle schooler Ben as he comes to terms with his shapeshifting superpowers with Me, know more about what it takes to be a rising NFL superstar with the documentary series Receivers, dive into the world of recently jilted Ava with Divorce in the Black, and laugh out loud with the German rom-com Blame the Game

Here’s the rundown for this week:

Divorce in the Black (English)

Tyler Perry’s most recent directorial venture centers around Ava, a top brass bank executive whose seemingly perfect world crumbles when her husband, Dallas, walks out on their marriage.

Reeling from heartbreak, Ava looks for answers, uncovering hidden truths. Turns out, Dallas’s betrayal is more than a lover’s quarrel, it’s part of a devious plot that has manipulated her all along. Dallas forces himself back into her life, and Ava must now embark on the path towards retribution and break away from her past.

Sunny (English/Japanese)

Who hasn’t thought about moving to Japan at least once in their life?

With the city of Kyoto as the backdrop, Sunny pushes you right at the onset of a thrilling mystery. Suzie’s picture-perfect life takes a hit when she loses her husband and son in a plane crash. As she reels from the sudden nothingness that seems to now surround her, Suzie receives a package, a robot called Sunny, who is supposed to help her navigate through life, created by her husband at his last job. Not comfortable with the idea of having a robot around her all the time, Suzie doubts its origins, as her husband’s mysterious job at the tech company begins to unravel bit by bit.

Now, Suzie must uncover the secrets behind the supposed disappearance of her family, along with her robot companion.

Me (English)

Ben Vasani, aged 12, is just like any other ordinary middle schooler. Except for his superpowers. As Ben tries to get used to his new family, he stumbles upon a life changing secret that he must hide from all. As a shapeshifter, Ben can assume any identity he wants to. With his stepsister by his side, he navigates the ups and downs of having superpowers as a twelve-year old, while going through the motions of adolescence.

This heartwarming story packs a lot of action (and life lessons) into its ten-episode run, and makes for a good weekend watch.
