Air India to add 100 more Airbus aircraft after record order
With the latest order, Air India's total order of Airbus aircraft stands at 350 – up from 250 in the initial agreement in 2023

Tata group-owned Air India has ordered 100 additional Airbus aircraft, the airline said on Monday.
The fresh order comprises 10 widebody A350 and 90 narrowbody A320 family aircraft, including the A321neo.
With the latest order, the airline’s total order of Airbus aircraft stands at 350–up from 250 in the initial agreement in 2023.
In its earlier order, Air India bought 40 A350 and 210 A320 family aircraft.
“These additional 100 Airbus aircraft will help position Air India on the path to greater growth and contribute to our mission of building Air India into a world-class airline,” Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, said in a statement.
The airline, which is India’s only full-service carrier after absorbing the erstwhile Vistara, also announced a partnership with Airbus’ Flight Hour Services-Component (FHS-C) to support maintenance needs for its A350 fleet.
“The new materials and maintenance contract will help Air India optimize the reliability and performance of its A350 fleet, with comprehensive engineering services and integrated component services including on-site stock at Delhi provided by Airbus,” Air India said in the statement.
So far, Air India has received six A350s and plans to expand its operations as India’s aviation market grows.
Air India’s total aircraft order with Airbus and Boeing now totals 815, of which 529 remain to be delivered.
