Vistara has said that it will operate its last flight on 11 November before merging with Air India.

Air India will operate the airline’s aircraft after that date, with all flight bookings on the airline being redirected to Air India, the company said.

Flyers will not be able to book flights on the airline from Tuesday, 3 September, for travel from 12 November, the company added.

“We are merging with Air India for you to fly #ToLimitlessPossibilities! Vistara flights, starting 3-Sep-24, will progressively not be available for bookings for travel after 11-Nov-24. 12-Nov-24 onwards, you will be required to book with Air India. Stay tuned for further updates,” the airline said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“We are immensely grateful to all our customers for their support and patronage over the last 10 years. As we progress further in our growth journey, we want to emphasize that this merger is about offering them more choice with a larger fleet and a wider network, while elevating the overall travel experience,” Vinod Kannan, chief executive officer at Vistara, said.

“Vistara and Air India are committed to ensuring that this transition is smooth and hassle-free. We are excited about this new phase in our journey and look forward to welcoming our customers again soon – as Air India,” he added

“Two iconic brands, one shared vision. Air India and Vistara are coming together to create something truly special. We’re excited to have you join us on this journey,” Air India said in a post on social media.

“Cross-functional teams from Air India and Vistara have been working together for many months to make the transition of aircraft, flying crew, ground-based colleagues and, most importantly, our valued customers, into the new Air India as seamless as possible,” Campbell Wilson, chief executive officer and managing director at Air India, said.

“The joint team looks forward to offering our guests an expanded network, additional flight options, an enhanced frequent flyer program and the best of both antecedent airlines and are grateful for the support of our loyal customers through this next phase of building a world class, world scale, global airline with an Indian heart,” Campbell added.

“As the merger process moves ahead, regular updates will be shared with customers on the websites and social media channels of Vistara and Air India, and via e-mail. This includes information on web check-in, lounge access, ancillary services, and all other possible touchpoints. All efforts will be made by the dedicated teams across both airlines to ensure a seamless transition,” Vistara said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines on Friday, 30 August, said it has received government approval for foreign direct investment, clearing a hurdle in the merger of airline Vistara, its 49%-owned joint venture with Tata-owned Air India.
