Budget airline IndiGo has announced plans to roll out  a “tailor-made” business travel option along the country’s busiest routes.

The airline said it plans to launch the business class option before the end of the year, with more details on product offerings, launch dates, and routes to be unveiled in August, when it will mark its 18th anniversary.

Considering India’s soaring economy and the evolving aspirations of Indian society, the airline said “it’s time for IndiGo to redefine premium travel in India, increasing availability of this service for the nation.”

This will create a desired option for many who are aiming to travel business, perhaps for the first time in their lives, IndiGo said in a statement.

“We believe that as India gears up to become the third largest economy in the world, it’s our privilege to provide the New India even more options to choose from as they travel business,” IndiGo chief executive Pieter Elbers said in the statement.

“We are excited with this new phase and tailor-made product in IndiGo’s evolution and strategy and aim to further give wings to the nation, by connecting people and aspirations,” Elbers added.

The announcement by Interglobe Aviation Ltd, the company which runs brand IndiGo, came after it posted robust revenues in the March quarter as strong demand outweighed fuel price hikes. The airline’s year-on-year net profit doubled to ₹1,894.8 crore during the quarter.

With more than 350 aircraft, the airline operates around 2,000 daily flights and connects over 85 domestic and 30 plus international destinations.
