Bain Capital closes Asia Fund VI at $10.5 billion
Fund exceeds original 7 billion target and marks largest Asia-focused vehicle in firm history
Bain Capital said it has completed the final close of Asia Fund VI with $10.5 billion in commitments, exceeding its original $7 billion target and marking the largest Asia‑focused private equity fund in its history, according to a company statement.
About $9.1 billion came from external investors, with the rest from Bain partners, employees and affiliates, who together are the single largest investor in the vehicle.
The Boston‑based private equity firm said the fundraising reflects strong confidence in its 20‑year track record across Asia, where it has built a fully integrated platform spanning Japan, India, China, Australia and Korea with nearly 200 investment and operating professionals.
Yuji Sugimoto, Bain Capital partner and head of Asia private equity, said the firm’s playbook combines local insight with global resources and deep operational expertise to help companies grow and transform.
“We continue to see significant opportunity across the region, and we are investing in our people, our technology, and the broader capabilities of the platform so we can keep scaling in a disciplined way and delivering over the long term,” he said.
The new fund will back investment themes across technology, healthcare, consumer, industrials and business services, with Bain highlighting opportunities in founder transitions, industry consolidation and cross‑border growth.
Japan remains a key focus, but India’s rapidly expanding private market and growing deal pipeline are expected to attract significant allocations from the vehicle.
Private equity fundraising in Asia has softened in recent years, but large vehicles continue to close, underscoring durable appetite for regional exposure.
Fund Asia VI’s close follows a record $15.6 billion Asia‑Pacific fund raised by Sweden’s EQT earlier this year, illustrating deep pockets among global institutional investors for Asia deals.
