India on Monday signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia for this year’s Haj pilgrimage and finalized a quota of 175,025 pilgrims.

The agreement was signed by minister for minority affairs Kiren Rijiju and Saudi Arabia’s minister for Haj and Umrah, Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, in Jeddah.

Rijiju, in a post on X, announced the finalization of the quota, saying, “Haj Agreement 2025 signed with Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister for Hajj and Umrah of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Finalized a quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India for #Haj2025. We are committed to providing the best possible services to all our Haj pilgrims.”

He also said that the two held discussions on improving the pilgrimage experience for Indian devotees and strengthening bilateral relations between India and Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the agreement “wonderful news” for Indian Haj pilgrims. “Our Government is committed to ensuring improved pilgrimage experiences for devotees,” he said in a post on X.

The quota allocation for 2025 has been divided between the Haj Committee of India and Haj group organizers in a 70:30 ratio.

Rijiju had confirmed this distribution was confirmed in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha last month.

Under this allocation, 122,518 spots will be reserved for the Haj Committee, while 52,507 places will be available through Haj group organizers .

Rijiju also noted that preparations for the pilgrimage are already underway.
