US e-bus deal will help mitigate risks: Mahua Acharya

Interview by: Kaumudi Gurjar Video Editor: Rahul Sanpui Mahua Acharya, Chief of Staff at CQuest Capital, explains how risk mitigation instruments like the India-US partnership will address credit worthiness of STRU. Through its National Electric Bus Programme (NEBP), launched in 2022, India is set to roll out 50,000 e-buses by 2027. With Mahua Acharya as CEO, the government-owned company Convergence Energy Services Limited floated two massive tenders for adopting over 10,000 buses in cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata. However, the tendering process highlighted the concerns of OEMs given the weak financial condition of State Road Transport Undertakings (SRTU). In an exclusive interview with Press Insider, Acharya explained how risk mitigation instruments such as the India-US collaboration will address challenges like the creditworthiness of takers of these electric buses.
